Raiding: Looking for advice on my gems and boots

All about you:
Raiding is all I really like to do. I raid at least 3-4 nights a week. Sometimes do daily heroics, dailies and farm for repair/gem gold. My guild is in SSC but hasn't downed Vash or Fathom Lord, all the others are on farm. The guildies are starting to get bored w/ SSC so they are gonna start back into TK. We have only worked on trash in BT and MH. I have been starting to run ZA here and there, but haven't downed Hex Lord or the last boss (can't think of his name atm). So I don't see myself getting into MH or BT very soon.
I have used the gear guide on this forum for months improving this character. I am not good w/ numbers and have tried w/ some of this technical stuff and sometimes get stumped on some things. I have the badge boots, but just acquired the Boots of Blasting pattern. I am torn between these 2. I have the mats to craft them, but not sure if they would be a good enuff upgrade for me vs. passing the pattern to a guildie. I would gain stats, but also loose some.
Also, should I change anything w/ my current gems?
Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Gearwise upgrades sound about right. The boots are not really required with your current boots being close to them in terms of dps. Your gems however are really not very good. 8 crit gems are the worst itemized gems for a dps gem. If your crit is low you should use potent pyrstones or combo gems as they are both better then pure 8 crits. Crit is one of the least effective stats to stack because it takes more crit to gain a full % then haste as well you get less points then pure damage gems (even rare 9 damage > 8 crit rating) Do not socket match bonuses that do not benefit your dps stats, for example on your ss pants you have matched a 6 stam bonus by decreasing dps stats and adding in stam(from the nightseye) Calculate which will give you a better dps increase before gemming any gear and completely ignore bonuses that do not help your damage. I am really not sure why there is a star of elune in your belt as it has no dps stats at all attached to it.

While you are in TK look out for solarians wand as well as T5 shoulders as it will last until the sunwell trash drop.

Your gear is enchanted well and you know what other pieces you should look out for fix your gems and you will be all set.

I would suggest replacing any crit gems with haste/spell damage like the reckless pyrestones. I personally use them for every socket because at about 1200 spell damage haste becomes better than spell damage. Also I would consider replacing the 12 stam gem in your belt with a stam/spell damage gem. The shoulders from tidewalker are another upgrade you might want to consider as they have two yellow sockets so you get the socket bonus with pyrestones then. Like Malev said those are good boots.

i would stick with the crit because you are maxed hit. Im not sure if you are shadow bolt destro because if you are then you can start doing freakish DPS with shadow bolt crits 1/3 of the time. If you are fire I would say get a lot of haste.

Keep the boots as they are fairly close to the top non sunwell boots in the game. I agree about not gemming for pure crit. However, I disagree about socketing haste right now. I think you should go for hit/damage and that's about it. You'll probably get more dps from regemming all your +stam/anything gems to some other stat.

A little bit of haste is a good thing early on however if you look at the itemization on early haste gear it quite frankly sucks. Don't worry too much about haste until later on in BT get your crit/hit/damage balanced throughout later T5 and move towards haste in sunwell. This is just an opinion and a generalization because there are a few really good haste pieces in BT staff, ring, bracers, etc. The ZA haste gear with the exception of the timed ring sucks for itemization without T6ish gear to support the other slots.

I just meant as far as gems go. Haste gear is ehhhh til about sunwell, I agree with you there.

Thank you so much for the advice. I changed a couple gems around yesterday and got 30 more damage. And I plan to pass the pattern off to a guildie that can use it more.
