Have you read the gearing guide? Yes

Items/Slots in need of immediate upgrade:
  • MH – Need something badly here, hoping to get anything decent.
Upgrades you are currently working on:
  • Trinket – I was thinking of getting Timbal’s for this slot.
  • Belt – Currently saving for the badge belt.
  • Bracers – Working on +damage enchant for these.
All about you:

Our guild raids about 1-2 nights per week and every Sunday, we have Kara on farm and are currently working on ZA and Gruul’s, just starting Mag. Off night’s is mostly mote farming, daily’s and Heroic’s whenever I can, I do not PvP at all (never got into it for some reason).

I have read some posts recently that may suggest I have tried too hard to get myself “Hit capped” this early, but really haven’t figured that out just yet. My DPS seems to be ok, but I don’t really have a benchmark telling me roughly where I should be at this level.

I would really appreciate some feedback on what I have put together so far to see if I am on the right track. Also, for my gear level is my talent spec ok? Would there be another spec more appropriate to my level of gear? I have 2 extra points unassigned, working on finding a home for those at the moment. Criticisms and suggestions are welcome, thanks in advance.

Re: T4 Aff. Lock Gear and Talent Critique

Seeing that your bread and butter is Affliction I would consider tossing those 2 points into iCoA.

Also consider removing iHoT, its more of a PvP talent (IMHO). Those two points could be placed into Malediction for even more raid support. Never have liked ShadowBurn, my preference would be to gank that point and put it into malediction as well giving you 3/3 Mal.

You also have 6 items that need enchants:
Frozen Shadoweave Boots
Veteran's Silk Cuffs
Ashyen's Gift
Fused Nethergon Band (if your an enchanter)
Cloak of the Betrayed (would hold off until purple)
Archmage's Guile (would hold off util purple)

The FSW / SS sets should last you uintil T5 content (unless you want to badge replace). For the dagger I would look (if you want to stay with a 1H wep) at getting:

Scryer's Blade of Focus (150 Badges)
Blade of Twisted Visions (ZA - Zul'jin
Wub's Cursed Hexblade (ZA - Jan'alai)
Nathrezim Mindblade (kara - Prince Malchezaar)
Bloodmaw Magus-Blade (Gruul's - Gruul the Dragonkiller)

For the trinket I would run H-MGT until Timbal's Focusing Crystal dropped off of Priestess Delrissa

and now onto the cloak ;)
Options are:
Cloak of Subjugated Power (60 Badges)
Ruby Drape of the Mysticant (Kara - Prince Malchezaar)
Brute Cloak of the Ogre-Magi (Gruul's - High King Maulgar)

Re: T4 Aff. Lock Gear and Talent Critique

Imo, regardless of how little you pvp, try for the Merc spellblade. until your guild has Jan'Alai or whatever is name is on farm and you can easily get Wub's Cursed Hexblade, you probably won't see an extremely decent upgrade until after that.

For your belt, farm the mats for Belt Of Blasting. Unless you actually need stam/int, it's the best belt you can get before t6.

And if you really feel like it, imo upgrade your bracers to vindicators. I'd say try for guardian's but you don't pvp, so arena is out of the question.

Re: T4 Aff. Lock Gear and Talent Critique

Your cloak is fine it is only slightly worse then the one off prince and better then the other two suggested above. A ZA weapon is your best bet the one off dragonhawk would be ideal. Timbals is the right choice to complement the Icon or if you have the cash a darkmoon card would work too. DO NOT get the badge belt pay to have a belt of blasting crafted and buy the vortexs instead it is vastly superior to the voodoo belt.

Your biggest gear problems are the poor gem choice and lack of enchants. There are threads on enchanting but generally its pretty easy to pick the best choice. DO NOT match the socket bonus if it does not benefit you. This means a resocketing of the spellstrike set and NEVER socket with stars for a pve set use nightseyes ONLY if the socket bonus is greater then pure dps gems can gain you.

As for talents you have the major bases covered however affliction is a utility build I would suggest taking either maladiction or Shadow Embrace or both to help your raid. Especially if you are starting ZA SE will be an asset to getting the healers used to healing the massive damage on a T4 geared tank. This would be my suggestion for a T4 aff lock starting ZA.

His cloak is fine.... it is one of the best in the game.

For MH, i'd also suggest griding honor for the s2 dagger... its about as good as it gets if you cant get the dagger off the dragonhawk boss in ZA.

I offered up the cloak suggestions (the two +crit ones) to help up his crit to match his hit cap and progress him closer to 21/40 *shrug*

In any case at least now he knows his options
