What Pieces To Upgrade First (Level 70)
I really am in a quandary as to which pieces of armor to upgrade first.
I have decided to upgrade with S2/Vindicators Silk Cuffs and Belt as well as the S2 Spellblade and Endgame. My problem is that honor and marks are very slow coming. I am a new parent and I only play with my husband a little at night. Right now I am thinking I can upgrade maybe 1 piece every week or two. Right now I have the Battlegear rep armor and a few other tailoring and crap pieces. Since honor and marks are tight I just don't know which pieces will give me the most significant upgrades. Mainly I need to get better in PvP so I can get more efficient honor. Right now my wrist and waist flat out SUCK.....badly. My gut says upgrade those first, but for just a little more honor I can upgrade my robe or weapon which seem like a great gain as well. Looking at my gear can you suggest an order for upgrade? I know I need to rework gems and enchants. I have my armory in my profile. Also while I am at it, I have another dilemma. If I do need to wait to upgrade the robe to S2, should I bother making a FSW robe in the meantime? I have 10 shadowcloth banked and I was making more, but honestly right now I just don't see how it is really worth it. I think I would be better off selling the cloth and saving up for some better gems to go into my S2 gear. Ideas? |

Re: What Pieces To Upgrade First (Level 70)
I would say go for the belt and bracers first, then get anything that isn't part of your Dreadweave set. Better to have half S2 ans Storebought than half S2 and Non-PvP Green/Blues.
Thats my answer, I don't PvP much so I can't go much further into it that basic logic. |

Re: What Pieces To Upgrade First (Level 70)
I went ahead and upgraded the wrists and gloves. I am pretty much stumped now. Do I keep saving for the higher cost items first like weapons or fill in with the lower cost items first? I personally want to get what I can as soon as I can, so I tend to get the lowest cost ones first, but will I get a lot more out of a different item by waiting?
Also, I am giving up on arena gear for now. BG seems more viable for me now I think I should focus my energy there until my gear and skill improves. |

Re: What Pieces To Upgrade First (Level 70)
i'm a recent 70 as well (a few weeks now) and had to go through the same thing
i created a simple spread sheet to decide what items to upgrade first. it looked something like this: -----------------------------------stam -- int -- damage -- crit -- resil legs of the sorcerer (made up) ------ 32 --- 21 -- 25 merciless dreadweave legs ---------- 69 --- 27 -- 53 ---------------33 -----------------------------------+37 -- +6 -- +28 ------------ +33 i did this for every item and then compared the results. i focussed on Resilience as the "must-have-now" stat so, whichever item had the most resilience i bought first. armor vs weapon: is the gain from the merc gladiator spellblade + off hand greater than the gain from the 2 or 3 pieces of armor you could buy with the same amount of honor? Re: What Pieces To Upgrade First (Level 70)
Right now, PvE mainly. PvP was a means to an end. I really don't get to group or raid at all since I have a baby at home. I duo with a Rogue, who also is working on Merciless gear.
I hope to raid more in the future, but right now I am looking to find the best well rounded gear I can get, without raiding or 5 mans. I have decided to save up and get the Belt of Blasting for the waist. So now I am down to Head/Legs/maybe Feet and I am still agonizing between the 1h/Offhand or 2H. I hate the red q-tip look, but if I try to get the honor I need for the Spellblade and Endgame I will be doing BG until I am dead. |

I suggest that you still do arenas...10 games a week win or lose and you will still build up points toward arena gear!

Re: What Pieces To Upgrade First (Level 70)
I'd say get the s2 blade first then the vindicator silk cuff or dreadweave cuffs your preference.
A good lock set that's easy to get is the shadow's embrace from tailoring, only if you're a 375 shadoweave tailor. For a cloak, the cloak of the black void is a pretty good cloak that doesn't cost too much to make. Once you feel up to it running heroics for badges will help get some gear, like the soul-eater orb for the off hand, also the epic wand from the black stalker and the quagmarian's eye are great drops from heroic coilfang runs. If you just hit 70 a good set to just look at compared to what you have is the dreadweave pvp rep set, they cost about 10g or so per piece, you just need to be honored for each faction for each piece they sell... thrallmar, cenarion exp., lower city, sha'tar, and keepers of time |
