Reroll gearing fast for endgame help...
So I was in a guild on a pve server that I quit last December. The lock I was on was full T5 and some offset pieces of T6 *offhand, back* We just killed illidan and I was basically burnt the hell out totally and needed a long break.
Now I am finding myself a reroll to a pvp realm after the desire to play has hit me yet again and I plan on apping to an endgame guild on this server but I am at ground zero of gear…. So I grabbed the Leulier spreadsheet and start going over gear and specs….. Now I am faced with Spellfire or shadoweave set to make…. I will only wear this until I get into T6 and then be switching back to shadow because it is more raid cohesive and does from what I can see more damage…. The main reason I was thinking of this is to increase my dps to the max that I can before being accepted into a guild and this spreadsheet is setting the two sets tremendously apart. Shadoweave set with shadow destro spec 0.21.40 is sitting at 1608dps Spellfire set with same gear setup only changing out the belt of ruination for the spellfire belt and the shoulders for season 2 arena with reckless pyrestone gems (0.21.40firelock) is sitting at 1748dps This is a HUGE difference, and the fact that I will not be the only lock in raid *probably in a 3rd position tbh* then isb will still be applied frequently. Please don’t let this turn into a firelocks are lame thread….i am looking for ideas on best dps from gear that can be farmed from badges, pugs, tailoring within a month tops. Any ideas are appreciated. -Knowmad |

firelocks are really not good.
endgame guilds will not accept undergeared firelocks. |

Re: Reroll gearing fast for endgame help...
Fire is clearly more personal dps, but it will lower raid dps (and by extension also affects things like mp5 returned vis Shadow Priests, their VE healing). If you wish to impress a potential raid guild then my choice would always be to act as a "team player".
No-one is going to mock you if you wish to choose fire, but a good class leader will know what to look for and in most cases (pre Sunwell) thats NOT a Firelock. Still, you have to do what makes you happy in the end ![]() |

any of C-pimps gear guides are winners. also look at the one on badge gear and up-grades that are on there. i really found all of them a huge help to me. you already know what to do and how to do it, just use his guides as a very detailed bit of help.
enjoy your stay here and best wishes on the new server and guild.... Andal |

Also as Andal points out - the gear guides really are good regardless of which spec you choose to go for.....and changing from a T5/T6 raiding Warlock to being in the position of gearing up through that again takes some determination - Good Luck ![]() |

Re: Reroll gearing fast for endgame help...
It certainly takes determination to reroll and start from scratch. Most end game guilds will be looking for people who know their class and work well with a team. This said there really isn't a question that shadow destro is the way to go. Being knowledgeable about the game in general helps as well. I recommend you get a firm grasp of macros and cc and be ready to adapt on the fly. I ran heroics ad nauseum in subpar t5ish gear until I got recruited by a guild in bt/hyjal because they were impressed with my use of cc in the run we did together.
Also, the application you submit may be more important than the gear you have. If they ask for a screenshot and bindings etc... don't give them a pic of you standing in shat with a completely default ui and no list of your key bindings. Also, don't respond to questions like "why did you choose your spec?" with something inane like "everyone knows destro is teh bezt." If they say that pvp is something they take into consideration then you might want to arena/bg as much as possible to get gear that way as well. I guess what I'm saying is that the considerations for joining a end game progression guild can have a lot more than just gear requirements so you may want to plan for it now. All that said, you will want to get the FSW set and the belt of blasting made pronto and then flush it out with all the badge gear you can. Just keep running heroics and kara and za to get all the badges you can. It is possible to get the several hundred badges to get all the badge gear in one month, but it requires an awful lot of playtime. Last edited by levinho; July 25, 2008 at 07:48 AM. |

Re: Reroll gearing fast for endgame help...
I did something similar recently. While I had the advantage of joining a guild working on T6 when I was still in my 20s (F&F type rank) this will give you an idea for some gear too.
For what it is worth here is what I did: (mage not lock but close enough) I did not take tailoring. I had just gone through that trauma on my lock and I did not want to go through it again. If you have the patience for it I suggest you do take tailoring though. It will save you alot of cursing of bosses. I leveled skinning/mining and then later dropped skinning for herbs. This fueled my gear buying habit. I have since dropped mining for enchanting to get ring enchants. Buy/have made the Belt of Blasting, get the Blessing deck, either pvp for the wrist or have the Bracers of Nimble Thought made. PvP for the Guardian neck. If you do go with tailoring, have the FSW set made asap. (I think Thelab explained the reason for the choice well enough). Hopefully you're Scryer - pick up Bloodgem for use on bosses - have another decent trinket for trash. Spend alot of time in MagT, heroic and regular. Gloves, trinket, chest, weapon, ring...various nice things from here. Persue badges whenever you can - the ring is a big upgrade to almost anything and plenty of other goodies too. I always do the dailies that result in supply bags for the chance of a badge, it all adds up. When you do apply to a end game guild put alot of thought and time into your application. It really does show to the people who have to review them and can impact your chances regardless of gear. Make sure you have good enchants and gems, that shows both your knowledge of your class mechanics and your willingness to put effort into your charecter. Another thing that may help, once you do get in, is to be as helpful as possible. Excess food I collect goes in the guild bank; I contributed my shadow motes from questing when they were working on gear for Mother. Don't let yourself get taken advantage of certainly, but I think little things like that make you get noticed and create a positive impression of you in guild. So far it has worked out pretty well for me. Last night I got to go to Hyjal for 3 bosses for the first time and picked up my T6 gloves (I can stop cursing Attuman weekly!) and the Hatefury Mantle Now if I could just replace my silly staff from Curator I'd be fairly content.....That is probably more of an answer than you wanted but I'm over-caffeinated! |
