Constantly being kicked out of groups before they start...

I'm still constantly being kicked out of groups before they start. I mentioned this in my "rate my gear" thread...but thought I'd try to dig deeper here. I'm constantly being told I cant get into groups like Gruuls, Kara, and other heroic dungeons....because of two reasons. Either they say my gear sucks....or my spell damage is too low.

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-t...t&n=Necroscope

WTF is going on? It's not like I'm annoying people and getting booted because of that....I dont say a word. It's not because of my play style..this is before we even start. I'm 10/41/10....I'm 5/5 s2 with bonus damage around 730. Help please.

re: Constantly being kicked out of groups before they start...

Well, some of your gear is lacking enchants and you've gemmed it a little randomly, then there are a couple of pieces which are quite frankly...bemusing - is this a PvP set?

If you're using PvP gear to PvP with, then you need to throw in res/sta. If you're using it to PvE with, then you definately need to gem for hit/damage. You have 375 tailoring - do yourself a massive favour and craft the Frozen Shadoweave Set....and do NOT Gem for crit.

Enchants:

Head - you need to get the Sha'tar head enchant
Gloves - +20 spell damage
Bracers - as soon as you get the S3 bracers, you need to throw +15 damage on there
Trousers - you need the spellthread - rare at the minimum, preferably epic.
Chest - +6 all stats
If you go for the PvP staff, that needs 40 spell damage on it, again as a minimum. If you go for the Spellblade then +40 damage or Soulfrost.

Have you read the "Gearing your Warlock" thread? Its essential to get an idea of what gear's available. Likewise the spreadsheet at WoW Warlock DPS Spreadsheet . Input your gear, play with gem/enchant options and use it to fine-tune your gear for maximum DPS.

re: Constantly being kicked out of groups before they start...

Well I'll try and shed some light for you and what people are probably thinking when they see your gear.

You are wearing the badge fire resist boots? why? those badges could have been used for runed spell cuffs or icon. but this is really the only big WTF i see.

Why you can't get into heroics

People might think you just honor farmed for your gear and that you dont know how to handle yourself in PVE setting. You should be just fine for heroics though based on your stats. but you may want to consider switching to an affliction build.

Why you can't get into raids

Your hit rating is far too low. Even with your 3/5 suppression you're nowhere near cap. Your spell damage is also fairly low with a very high crit. Your lack of hit and low damage doesnt support a crit 0/21/40 build and your high crit is wasted on an affliciton build. You unfortunatley chose the wrong PVP gear. You should have gone with the higher damage one. You're a 375 tailor without FSW set? No Spellstrike? No belt of Blasting? No badge gear? these are all reasons I wouldnt bring on one of my runs. I dont mean to sound like a jerk but what have you done for yourself to make people take a PVE interest in you?

Read the gear guide on this site and pick a goal to work towards. One piece of gear at a time. Learn the PVE talent builds for your gear level. Get your gear enchanted.

It's gonna take a lot of work but if you want to experience the PVE side of this game you're going to have to put the effort in

LOL Theleb you beat me to it by a few seconds

re: Constantly being kicked out of groups before they start...

well, for one thing, your specc is not really effective. It's not bad, but try looking at some of the other speccs on the website to get an idea of what you should be doing.

Well, now that i look at your gear too... well, don't expect to get in any higher content groups with that. First, your hit is at 21... well, that's not going to do you too good in your specc (you have suppression, but you're not affliction, so that doesn't do much for you). Then i look at your boots: infernoweave boots? I don't think you're going to be doing too much leo tanking at this point, so there's no reason whatsoever for you to wear that. And about the whole pvp gear thing... that can only take you so far. If you really want to pve, get a few pieces that do you good in pve (check out canadianpimp's guide here... even though it's mainly for destro, he does make a few comments for starting out on raids).

Oh, and yes, your damage is very low considering that you're demo. I personally reccomend you respecc affliction and do a few normal instances and some more heroics before even thinking of kara. Make the FSW set. get your stuff enchanted. I'm not saying you HAVE to respecc, but you would do a lot better as affliction.

p.s: sorry if i sounded a bit rude at times. I'm bad at giving constructive criticism.

re: Constantly being kicked out of groups before they start...

According to the armory you have the following, self-buffed:
717 spell damage
21 hit rating
23.12% crit

The armory shows you as equipping a riding crop, so I'm guessing you normally have something else in that slot.

First off, I'd suggest boosting your hit rating. A lot. For heroics and raids, hit rating is very important since that will likely be the biggest boost to your dps on bosses. Ideally, you should get as close to the hit cap (202) as you can before raiding -- the closer you are, the more you'll help the raid during boss fights. (You have the suppression talent, but you're not affliction specced so that won't help you all that much -- it doesn't work on SB's, etc.)

Your crit is good, and your damage is okayish -- albeit a bit on the low side for starting to raid.

It's clear that you enjoy PvP as all of your gear is oriented for PvP, so I would suggest getting something like Merciless Gladiator's War Staff - Item - World of Warcraft, which will boost your damage and help your hit rating a bit.

To further improve your hit rating for PvE, I'd suggest getting things like: Spellstrike Pants - Item - World of Warcraft, Spellstrike Hood - Item - World of Warcraft, Scryer's Bloodgem - Item - World of Warcraft, and Belt of Blasting - Item - World of Warcraft. Take a look at canadianpimp's guide on this site for more suggestions.

Also, unless you need it for a specific boss fight, for PvE you should be boosting your hit, damage, and crit, not your spell resistances, so you should find some other boots to wear normally rather than the fire resistance boots (if you don't already have something). Keep the fire resistance boots in the bank since you'll need it for some fights, but they shouldn't be what you normally wear.

Lastly, make sure all your items are enchanted: spell damage on your weapon, sha'tar spell hit/dam head enchant, spell hit or damage on gloves, spell thread for pants, spell damage on bracers, etc. And, when gemming, gem for hit, damage, and crit: you don't really need spell penetration for PvE, and mp5 gems are not very good for locks.

Having all of your gear enchanted and properly gemmed (ideally with the rare-quality gems, if you can afford it) shows that you care, have an understanding of PvE, want to help the group as much as you can, and it will also help your dps.

To be honest, with the gear you have on right now people's first impression will be that you are a pvp-er, and likely don't have much experience or know-how with pve -- regardless of how well you would actually perform. If you greatly increase your hit rating, increase your damage, re-gem a few items, and get all of your gear enchanted then you'll make a much stronger, better first impression.

Good luck!

Our guild brought along a level 68 hunter into kara with us, and had no problem. I suggest you find yourself a casual raiding guild that is good enough to carry you through so you can aquire some badges and get the gear that is best for pve. Imo if the group is strong enough it shouldnt matter, but do put your tailoring to good use.

re: Constantly being kicked out of groups before they start...

Thanks for all the input. I have read the Canadianpimps guide on here...but I've seen so many things in his guide that I could improve on that it was really overwhelming. It's alot of info to take in honestly. I have a couple questions:

Going for the FSW set I can do...and have already thought of it before...but I'm worried about the drastic drop in armor the set has compared to what I'm wearing. Wont I become a one-hit kill waiting to happen if I take such a huge drop in armor? If my tank cant hold aggro then I'm toast cause I cant withstand any punishment. Even the AoE damage alone will be too much for me to handle.

When gemming my gear...should I just ignore the slot colors and go for the color to boost my hit rating and crit?

Do I still do all this if I plan on staying Demo at 10/41/10? I've tried respeccing a couple of times and plan on sticking w/Demonology since I didnt care for the other two builds at all.

For the loss of armor question don't worry about it in a raid/heroic situation if your tank can't hold aggro you will be killed anyways the armor/stam won't change that.

For a build this: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft plays the same as what you just with a few tweaks demo resil is important for avoiding/mitigating aoe on your pet while shadowburn will boost your trash/heroic performance.

Fix your boots for sure(get some real dps boots not resistance boots). As for gemming the only pve stats you should be interested in are hit, damage and crit(scrap spell pen, stam, spirit, int, etc). Crit gems are the worst itemized of the three. It takes more crit rating to make 1% crit then hit rating for the same percent. Focus on building your damage and hit in a balanced way while picking up crit on gear if the piece is a significant upgrade. Lego gemming/Socket matching is fine as long as the bonus will provide you with more dps stats then individual veiled noble topaz will get you.

I was invited to a kara group just after dinging 69 and was thinking "are you nuts? I'm nowhere near ready". I told them I was not geared or speced for it but they said not to worry about it that I'd be fine they just wanted some more people for DPS. So it's definitely possible if the group is strong enough but I'd imagine that's not the case in a lot of PuGs.
