please help a frustrated lock

Items/Slots in need of immediate upgrade: Trinket - Mark of the war prisoner needs replacing and possibly Sundial of the exalted, then my bracer's (bindings of the wicked) and cape (deathchill cloak) Upgrades you are currently working on: currently have 46 emblems of triumph, and 50 conquest. unsure if I should spend the triumph badges on a new trinket (shard of the crystal heart (or as i am over hit capped atm talisman of resurgence) or save for a new head piece All about you: I am predominantly PvE with the odd dabble in pvp...as a guild we are as far as hodir in Uludar 10, we have also got as far as the horde bosses in 10 man ToC. I am a destro,lock who dies frequently due to over aggro! (i know dead locks don't dps) in TBH i was an aff lock, and to start with i hated it, but was persuaded to persist with it, then grew to love it..now in Wrath of the Lich King I am destro and love the big damage, but struggle with the aggro side of things. I used to put out pretty good dps, but recently have noticed that it can vary hugely from the very embarrassing right up to the very impressive (for me anyway!) ie 1400 in a 25 man up to just over 4k. i have recently upgraded a few items (which might not show up yet on armoury) but these days find myself on the lower end of the dps meters. I have red the EJ thread and threads on here too..and I get confused by all the conflicting advice. My current spell rotation is life tap (wiht glyph) immolate, incinerate, conflagrate, chaos bolt, then spam incinerate until conflagrate or chaos bolt isw off cd or i need to life tap or immolate again. I am frustrated as I dont think I am doing as much dps as I should be and therefore letting the raid down...please help this frustrated lock

I could tell you what gems to use, but what about future gear? You really need to study stickies more so that you understand the basic mechanics. |

i wasnt actually asking for what gems to use (having looked at your gear etc I see you favour SP over all else) but simply telling me that I dont understand the basics is a great way of really kicking someone when they are struggling. I have read and tried to take in and understand as much as I can, I love playing a lock and I am asking for some help not to be made to feel like a complete fool! |

I am listening....you are telling me I dont understand the basics. beyond that you are actually saying anything that is helpful to me...the basics is a large topic...at least give me some pointers as to where i have misunderstood the basics! |

I am willing to do the leg work...from what I have read it was my understanding that once you are hit capped that crit and haste have fairly equal rating (hence the silly crit gems) clearly I have understood that all wrong. I will go back ad re-read! thanks for your help |

Those are the basics. Your curse of choice will generally be Curse of Doom - Spell - World of Warcraft. You can also ... Life Tap - Spell - World of Warcraft Curse of Doom - Spell - World of Warcraft Corruption - Spell - World of Warcraft Death Coil - Spell - World of Warcraft while you are on the run since they are instants.
