Spell damage/power... whatever

my question is regarding the change from +spell damage (and +healing) to the now universal - Spell Power.

what i want to know is what does this mean for our old school items? can a person who got on the Beta please let me know. i would be gutted if i couldn't wear my T6 around Northrend because the stats don't work!

Not likely. Odds are they're going to go back and revamp all the old items to bring them in line. They also have to do the chants and gems as well as these gave differing amounts of spell damage/healing.

The thing is, are healers now going to go for the same gear that we do? Since they've turned it all into spellpower. That would make Shadowpriests and Ele shammys (perhaps some other class i've forgotten too) maybe slightly OP, or maybe the holy/ resto ones as nearly OP.

im not on about the war between gear, which is covered in another topic. i really wanna know whats happening to our existing gear

If you check wowhead for old gear you will see you get the exact amount +spelldamage/healing in spellpower. Which is actually a buff for that gear for healing, but I couldn't care less about that.
And I wouldn't care too much about existing gear as 95% of the items will be replaced once you farm level 80 instances.

And I hope the healing ratio will be similar to the healing items since they got damage, too. In S1 for example it was hilarious that a full healer was not able to do ANY damage. Nowadays they do medium damage. Disc priest inflation...
