Whats become of Soulfrost?

Does it still exist, for that matter does any item, or spell, or effect, that gives +(insert school of damage) exist in game?

Because, tho the spellpower idea is good. The idea of losing the flavor of some specific school items is a loss i dont really want to see happen.

I have yet to see anything on this topic, is there any beta testers that can confirm this?

Well the spellpower idea is just to consolidate all your damage and healing into one manageable monthly repayment. Wait a minute...

No, seriously, I reckon Blizz are balancing spells, via co-efficients perhaps so that the spellpower affects both damage spells and healing spells. This opens up gear options a lot more because in BC we currently have damage and healing bonuses, or just healing etc. So it could be that a caster and healer will find the same item desirable.

As for enchants, I don't think they'd do away with enchants that just buff a certain school of magic. It could make a certain talent spec too OP if you only had enchants for all schools of magic.

IMO it will still be there. Think of it like when Burning Crusade came out with Sockets. I thought, great we get to socket our gear, but we couldn't off the bat, we had to wait til we got special outland gear with sockets. None of the Pre-BC content had sockets in it, and still doesn't.

My theory is that Spellpower won't be retroactive to BC and regular Azeroth, it'll exist only on Northrend gear. So going in there, you'll most likely be transitioning from Shadow or Fire damage gear to generic spell power gear and odds are the new enchantments will be worded accordingly. Soul Frost will remain for those still on BC content.

It'll still be about I'm sure - if you run a Shadow Destruction build it'll still be the enchant of choice although I'm guessing we'll see more 'locks with Sunfire...^^

it should still be there... all the old AQ20 / 40 enchants still exist, it's just the new outland recipe is better ( all schools rather then school specific ).

i think looking at mmo-champ or maybe WoR the new spellpower to weapon gives +50 odd spellpower anyway which is equal to soulfrost.

spellpower is just blizz trying to get everybody to use the same gear ( roughly ) rather then you having to farm kara for that one elusive drop that only class X of Y spec can use, all mages warlocks and spriest now has a desire for spellpower, spirit, spell crit ( ok healing priests / spriest might not need as much crit as warlocks / mages but they can still use it )

I have seen the Wrath of the Lich King versions of the Spellfire set. The wording has been changed to "fire spellpower" rather than spell damage. Robe link: http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?item=21848

I would imagine that any and all items that included school specific spell damage (not healing) will continue to do so. However, I do not think that we will see many (if any) of these school specific items added in Wrath.

We still have to see whether we will get Shadow or Fire only items again. It makes sense for Shadowcloth tailors, but then given the extreme amount of fire buffs I feel uncertain.

Speculation on my part....but I bet Blizz makes a new flask called:

Flask of Spell Power

which increases all schools of magic

they seem to be making attempts to consolidate spell schools to simplify the game.

Well, after doing some checking Soulfrost and Sunfire will be superceded by:

Enchant Weapon - Exceptional Spellpower - Spell - World of Warcraft

The new flask will be:

Flask of the Frost Wyrm - Spell - World of Warcraft

(125 spellpower).

Seems that soulfrost can be turned into the new scrolls for AH to

Scroll of Enchant Weapon - Soulfrost - Item - World of Warcraft

So it seems school specific remains.
so its possible that items which where primarally for healing maybe turned into holy spellpower & nature spellpower items
