EJ: Combat Ratings at level 80

The hit ratings have been reverse engineered on Elitist Jerks:

It's just *2.07 for Hit and Resilience... 70->80.

Or in other words: Gear is only half worth what it is now.

418 Hit... 1018 Resilience... Not perfectly calculated, just to find out where we are heading to.

I saw the conversion numbers go up and came out with 419 for hit, so definitely somewhere in that range.

That seems like an extreme jump, but I guess it also helps with new players not being totally outgeared by fresh 80s in their T6/S4 gear.

As I posted in another thread, T6(.5)/S4 gear items with 3 slots will be very good leveling gear and 80s start gear as the new green gems have more stats that current epics, the blues even more and the new epics (doubt that they will be assible soon) a whole lot of.

If I assume +12 or +14 resilience gems and get all my slots to resilience I would be able to reach 700.

With spell hit mechanics reportedly moving to melee hit mechanics in Wrath of the Lich King (already implemented in beta, according to some preliminary observations), we'll only need 9% extra hit to reach 0% miss rate (no more 1% min miss rate)

So 236 hit rating to be hit capped at 80 assuming the new combined hit rating uses the spell hit scaling. 295 if it scales as per melee hit.

actually i don't think the mechanics changed... it's just that there's no longer "spell hit" and just "hit". there's one universal hit rating applying to both mechanic.

anyway this explains why we're seeing hit rating and crit rating in double digits on every piece of gear... whoosh gearing for level 80 will be fun

At lv 77 I have 238 hit and I have 11.30% increased chance to hit a lv 77 target.

That's what I thought at first too, but read the linked thread further. Post #40 mentions the change.

I'm currently trying to find the original reports he mentioned - all I've found so far is people reporting they haven't seen a spell miss yet in beta (but they've been fighting mobs close to their own level).
