Oh noes! The new spellthreads are bad news for everyone: You can only have them if you're a tailor, so if you're a tailor you can't use them to make money and if you're not a tailor you will have to go without.
I know all professions have a little perk that's unique to the crafter, like the ring enchants but Spellthreads have become standard for all casters to have. It will be a shame if that was removed. I see the perk of tailoring to be FSW (or future equivalent) for instance, not exclusive thread patches. Imagine your elemental shamans or boomkins having to take up tailoring so their DPS isn't gimped. Last edited by Vaell; August 14, 2008 at 05:53 AM. |

It's hard to say since they're not finished yet, but it looks like the tailor-only ones are the same as what can be made for others, but with far cheaper mats (2 eternals instead of ten)
Of course, that may be just a placeholder. |

Re: New Soulshard Bag: Abyssal Bag - 32 Slots
I would take a wait and see attitude with those. I really doubt they would make the legs patches BoP. As Lurker said, the stats on the BoP ones are the same as the BoE so something will change down the road I am sure.
However, tailors are getting tailor-only back spellthreads. They will take up the enchanting slot though. I'm not sure if they're up here yet (searchign embroidery returned nothing): Lightweave Embroidery - Embroiders a subtle pattern of light into your cloak, giving you a chance to cause an additional 800 to 1000 Holy damage when you damage an enemy with a spell. You can only embroider your own cloak and embroidering your cloak will cause it to become soulbound. Darkglow Embroidery - Embroiders a magical pattern into your cloak, giving you a chance to restore 300 mana when you cast a spell. You can only embroider your own cloak and embroidering your cloak will cause it to become soulbound. And the perplexing - Shadowguard Embroidery - Embroiders a magical pattern into your cloak, causing your damaging melee attacks to sometimes ignore 1000 of your target's armor. You can only embroider your own cloak and embroidering your cloak will cause it to become soulbound. |

Also, as you can see from the linked ones, those are listed as level 70 tailoring items... I am curious to know if there will be even better ones at 80.

Re: New Soulshard Bag: Abyssal Bag - 32 Slots
I looked into the spellthread business a bit further and saw a listing on Embroidery. I hadn't heard about this before, so I don't know if it's old news or not. These are all tailor only and I expect that they would work similarly with enchanting. I doubt that we'll be able to use these in conjunction with enchanting though. Odds are if you apply this you'll be asked to remove any enchantment already on the cloak.
You can only embroider your own cloak and embroidering your cloak will cause it to become soulbound. Requires - Rune Thread (source) I'm curious to know how often the Darkglow one procs, if our DoT's trigger the Lightweave, or if our pets can take advantage of the Swordguard Embroidery. -- Whoops, just noticed Morganfaey typed this up ahead of me. Musta missed that post, sowwy! Last edited by Pernicious; August 14, 2008 at 05:09 PM. |

Well, this pretty much solves the question of whether or not they are going to make shards stack or not.
