Profession Abilities
I could not find any post about this, so I figured I'd make a thread about it for those of you who did not yet know.
Profession abilities and passive effects! Herbalism: (Instant cast, no requirements, 5 minute cooldown) Inscription: Skinning: Jewelcrafting: Alchemy: Mining: Fishing: Screenshot of the Wild Growth effect below, apparently this also increases the herbalism skill. ![]() That's all for now. (Source: WotLKwiki http://wotlkwiki.info/index.php/Professions) *** Information added 18 Minutes and 13 Seconds later... *** I forgot to add, there's also going to be a new way to "sell" your services. Professions Inferface The expansion will add the ability to shift-click and link your Professions from the general tab of your Spellbook into Trade/Guild/Etc chat panels. When someone clicks on your link, a panel similar to the Crafting panel will open, showing all of the recipes that the linking player is able to craft, as well as the materials they require. This will allow other players to browse a crafter's available patterns much more easily. Some additional information below Engineering Engineering will have a greater potential in Wrath of the Lich King, instead creating items with a <use> effect, one can now add the effect to an item of choice. Permanently attaches a pair of spynoculars to your belt, allowing you to see far away. Only a skilled engineer can use the spynoculars. Permanently attaches a flexweave underlay to a cloak, allowing a skilled engineer to turn the cloak into a parachute to fall slowly for 10 sec. The cloak can only be used every 5 minutes. Permanently attaches a hand-mounted pyro rocket launcher, allowing a skilled engineer to deal 2070 to 2530 Fire damage to an enemy at range. The rocket can only be fired every 2 minutes. Permanently attaches hyperspeed accelerators to a pair of gloves, allowing a skilled engineer to increase their haste rating by 340 for 8 sec. The gloves can only be activated every few minutes. Permanently attaches overpowered nitro boosts to a pair of boots, allowing a skilled engineer to greatly increase run speed for until cancelled. The nitro boosts can only be activated every 5 minutes. Permanently attaches a high-powered device to your belt, allowing you to stun nearby mechanicals. Only a skilled engineer can activate the modified belt. Permanently modify a cloak so it can be activated by a skilled engineer, causing them to fall slowly for 10 sec. The effect can only be activated every 5 min. Other interesting Engineering crafts Creates a portable mailbox for 5 min. Creates a mechanical vendor that buys anything. The scrapbot leaves after 5 min. (15 Min Cooldown) Creates a steam-powered auctioneer that takes bids for 10 min. This device creates intense heat and can only be used in the cold climate of Northrend. Tailoring item enhancements Like Engineering, Tailoring is also being expanded with effects on an item of choice. Enhancements for cloaks: Embroiders a magical pattern into your cloak, giving you a chance to restore 300 mana when you cast a spell. You can only embroider your own cloak and embroidering your cloak will cause it to become soulbound. Embroiders a subtle pattern of light into your cloak, giving you a chance to cause an additional 800 to 1000 Holy damage when you damage an enemy with a spell. You can only embroider your own cloak and embroidering your cloak will cause it to become soulbound. Embroiders a magical pattern into your cloak, causing your damaging melee attacks to sometimes ignore 1000 of your target's armor. You can only embroider your own cloak and embroidering your cloak will cause it to become soulbound. Enhancements for trousers: Permanently embroiders spellthread into pants, increasing spell power by 35 and Spirit by 12. Requires Level 70 Permanently embroiders spellthread into pants, increasing spell power by 50 and Spirit by 20. Requires Level 70 Permanently embroiders spellthread into pants, increasing spell power by 35 and Stamina by 20. Requires Level 70 Permanently embroiders spellthread into pants, increasing spell power by 50 and Stamina by 30. Requires Level 70 Permanently embroiders your pants with master's spellthread, increasing spell power by 50 and Stamina by 30. Only the tailor's pants can be embroidered, and doing so will cause them to become soulbound. Permanently embroiders your pants with sanctified spellthread, increasing spell power by 50 and Spirit by 20. Only the tailor's pants can be embroidered, and doing so will cause them to become soulbound. Blacksmithing Experienced blacksmiths can now add sockets to certain items. Permanently add a socket to your belt. Permanently add a socket to your gloves. Permanently add a socket to your bracers. Permanently adds a socket to a one-handed weapon. Sockets created by Blacksmiths are concidered "colourless". Enchanting I had a quick glance at the new enchants but did not find anything that's really interesting, all I found were "buffed" versions of enchants that are already in the game. Jewelcrafting Jewelcrafters get unique bind-on-pickup gems that can be crafted into some pretty neat gems! These uncut gems are called Dragon's Eye. (Update: According to a poster on wowhead, these gems come as a quest reward for doing daily jewelcrafting quests) Inscription Meh, still can't find any Warlock Glyphs. The first Warlock to find them online will probably be treaded like a God when they next come online. I will seriously worship you. Still, here's the (updated) Glyph Interface! Minor and Lesser Glyphs have been combined as one type. Now giving 3 Greater Glyph and 3 Minor/Lesser Glyph slots! (I think there's going to be an additional slot for Inscribers in the middle, let's hope it's a Greater Glyph!) ![]() Okay, seriously... after editing this post at least 20 times I must admit I am getting a little bit sleepy... it's 4AM here and my little shadowpriest is already asleep and probably wants me to join her. I'm off to bed... Enjoy! Last edited by TheAkrab; August 16, 2008 at 08:57 PM. |

Re: Profession Abilities
well it is nice to see that the tailoring which i have kept around past my fsw may pay off. The cloak and trouser effects for tailors only will add a little extra damage. Will be intresting to see how important geting those extra damage and mana.
