WotLK Enchanting

Does anyone know from beta if Enchanting is getting a bit of a buff in Wrath of the Lich King. Mainly on the BoP stuff. Basicly as it is the +24 damage you can put on your rings is nothing compared to the BoP Items you get from other proffs so Enchanting IMO is better for other toons to have since spending the time, gold and effort to level it yourself for on +24 damage isn't worth it as it currently stands

Re: WotLK Enchanting

Actually, a question about enchanting for those in Beta. Are +healing enchants changed now with the move to "spellpower" instead of the damage and healing separation? If so, what are they like now?

I was just dropping some enchants on my resto shaman yesterday, and the thought occured to me. Are these +healing to bracer going to become obsolete, and only the +damage remains, or will they change one or both of them to something different?

Re: WotLK Enchanting

As of right now the new ring enchants seem to be 23 spell power each. That is a total of 46 damage that only enchanters can have. At this time it appears that enchanters will also be able to make BoP wands, though the ones in the beta thus far appear to be place holders.

More info here:
Enchanting - WotlkWiki - Wrath of the Lich King Information

Both the current plus healing and spell damage enchants are converted to spellpower in the beta. Testers report that while the spell damage to weapon is still 40 spellpower the 81 healing is 43 spellpower because of the way things converted.

For me the expense and time invested in leveling enchanting is more than enough reason to keep it in Wrath of the Lich King. The wands and ring enchants will be a nice added benefit, and the ability to use scrolls to enchant alts gear is something I think is long over due and rather exciting.

Re: WotLK Enchanting

+24 damage seems pretty much in line with other profs to me.

take engineering for example. those goggles are cool but without engineering i can get a spellstrike hood crafted. comparing the 2 items, +24 damage seems pretty good.

Re: WotLK Enchanting

The other consideration is that Enchanting is the only crafting profession that is also its own gathering profession. I've made quite a bit of money selling enchantments, as well as selling the excess mats that I acquire.

{Edited, just wanted to point out as well that tailoring doesn't even have a gathering profession as such}

Re: WotLK Enchanting

Well the thing with Enchanting is that it's ALWAYS good. You can never replace ring enchants, unlike replacing Frozen Shadoweave / Spellfire gear. That's the crazy thing about it...at the beginning of gearing up, it's the worst, because the crafted BOP gear is better, but after you've gotten geared out, absolutely nothing is better.

As with most things, if you stick with Enchanting you are giving up a short term gain for a long term one.

Agreed.
Two reasons why Enchanting is cool:
Making your own Wizard Oils owns because you won't have to pay any fees at all and you can make profit in the AH with them.
Ring Enchants! Tailoring items for example will be replaced but the Ring enchants are unique. Nothing beats it.

I totally didn't think of being able to send enchants to alts, I hate having to ask for a chant the my main can do but I cannot give it to my alt. Thats good news
