Ideas for what to report from Beta?
I just got access to a closed beta account and I would love to report findings to you guys. But I need to know what to report on, basically. I think the account is only level 71 or so and I'd rather spend my time on it focusing on reporting rather than leveling. In an upcoming patch they will be allowing level 80 premade toons so at that time I can look into the higher level stuff.
If any of you have questions about how talents work, how much dps certain specs do, or want screenshots/video of something let me know and I will do my best to report back with my findings. Thanks. |

I actually just hit 80 today, and will probably be checking back here for at least the next few days myself, so please do ask us any and all [... useful] questions you might have.
Highest DPS grossing specs is a little up in the air since we don't have a complete picture of what gear there will be to complement those specs, but I do have my own intuitive/educated guesses what they might be anyway. |

Is Metamorphasis useful in leveling? In 5 mans? In a raid?
Is Haunt worth it over ruin? Should we go 50/0/21 or go 51/0/20 (or some variation) How much spirit do you have at 80? How is mana regen with spirit for us? I'm so used to seeing 0 MP5 while casting, LOL! Is anyone running OOM in instances. How are the mana regen talents (hunters, mages, etc) working to fix that? Are there any deathknights tanking, or are they all DPS? Mostly looking for info on what happens end-game. Not just raids, but 80 instances too. Understand DPS questions have to wait until we see gear and what the final destruction talents look like. |

Really, anything you uncover that hasn't already been posted would be invaluable. Barkle hit a few good points in his reply too.
I realize that some of the spells/abilities may not be working correctly yet, so it may be difficult to get an accurate picture of those. What are the base stats for warlocks at 80, and how about the pets? Are there any new demon types that can be enslaved, and what abilities do they have? I'm interested to know more about Shadowbite as an Affliction Lock, does the mana the felhound gain from the bite make it useful with dark pact? Or does it run out of mana for its own abilities still? (Last I heard Shadowbite was still broken, but if it gets fixed, I'd love more info). Professions, What do the new Tailoring patterns look like? Enchantment? Alchemy? Inscription? Jewel Crafting? Engineering? Anything that a lock would be most interested in early on. |

Unfortunately I will have to defer most of the questions that were asked so far off to Eluminite as they address the leveling/high end stuff that I don't have any experience with yet. But I can answer the question about dark pact/shadow bite. Shadow Bite gives a HUGE amount of mana the the felhunter. I will experiment more with it tonight to try and get you some numbers but it looked to me like there would not be a problem with an affliction lock keeping out a felhunter and not having mana problems.
Also, I feel like I have to tell you guys about my first experience with the new dark pact. ...DAMN. Keep in mind that my dark pact will get even more powerful than I am seeing since it and lifetap scale with spirit now instead of +damage but in a single dark pact I burned half of my imp's manabar, giving me over 4000 mana back. I see this resulting in less lifetaps and more time spent keeping dots up/moving/shadowbolting. |

Actually Debuff, It would be interesting to see the base stats of locks/pets at all levels and not just 80. As I've said before, anything that isn't already known that you can investigate would be great, even if it were just screen shots of the various lands/environments. Oh and show us some of the quest rewards greens/blues etc...

How is the economy looking? I know it's hard to tell at this stage but
how much gold does a max level character get for completing quests roughly? What kind of items are there need for crafting that are also rare(primals etc) The biggest one though: Are you having fun on your lock at 80? |

Haha, I think doogless got it covered pretty well, but just to show it's not only one man's opinion...
Economy Yeah, the beta economy is screwed up. People really did come in with 500k gold and dont care how loose they are with it because it'll all be gone in a couple months anyway. I myself copied my character when he literally had 20g on him. Right now I have about 6500g, much because of these people with loose wallets I made roughly 3000g just from quest reward gold, looted gold, and vendoring all the crap I got from both while levelling 70-80. Shadow Bite / DP Insanely useful together. After the downrank "fix", lifetap started getting very, very little mana return, probably around 10% every tap. However, the "fix" along with the change for Dark Pact to return 200% (up from 100%) results in DP currently returning about half my mana. It feels so weird waiting that long to tap, but it's glorious nevertheless. As for Shadow bite's return, while I'm specced full affliction with 2/2 imp puppy, it seems to give the felhunter around 15% of it's mana every bite- I think I saw ~500 mana last time I checked the combat log, but it really seems like more than that, perhaps because it's 500 mana every 6 seconds. In any case, it should be more than enough mana regen in raids (where shadow bite should return even more) and I fully expect to be using my puppy in them. Metamorph Yeah, it's pretty useless in PvE. Theorhetically, it'd be useful to use if you usually pull aggro with shatter on CD, since then you might be able to tank. However, alliteration aside, there's no way taking metamorph in your build is going to be as good for DPS as your other options, and then I highly doubt actually using metamorph will improve your DPS at all over having a felguard out and using your standard abilities. I do see some purpose for it as a defensive PvP ability though. Reduced stun and snare durations would be awesome, and it really is pretty decent against melee classes between the armor, melee abilities, and crazy fire aura. Generally, I think you might be better off with higher damage output talents to take down your opponents before they're able to mess you up, but this really could be the next soul link, especially for undergeared people. Death Knights First of all, every one of you must make one and do the few-level initial campaign. It's simply the best collection of quests in the entire game, and the most fun I've ever had levelling. As for their tanking ability, I agree that they're threat seemed pretty decent (possibly even better than my t6 warrior friend), but with significantly less mitigation. I don't remember ever having a DK tank die in the 5-mans I've done, but there've been enough scarey moments that I think they'll be constrained to offtanking / caster tanking in raids. Professions I'm tailoring and engineering. Both are kinda weak right now- there aren't any "zomg awesome" BoP epics for either that I've seen. I do however love that engineers can mine mechanicals for a chance at useful parts. There are also enchant-type things engineers can do for people, which should increase its worth in having a decent amount (everybody is going to be running around with rocketed boots and parachute cloaks). Tailors are able to make a better pants enchant for themselves (50 damage and some stats), as well as cloak enchants that actually are useful (chance to do 800-1000 damage, another with a chance to restore mana), but if I recall correctly, these currently can only be put on the tailor's own gear, so there's not much money-making opportunity there. Both have been extremely painful to level up. Right now, I pretty much need 120 cloth and 8 silks to gain a single level in tailoring (think I'm around 410 out of 450), and a ton of metal bars to get anywhere in engineering, which I don't have since I'm not a miner and the bars themselves are not mined out of mechanicals. And personally, I fully intend to use haunt instead of ruin, but I have no numbers backing my perceptions there either. |
