Kara - Prince - shadow (0/21/40)
Boss Name: Prince Malchezaar
Report: http://wowwebstats.com/jyyunmct3gmw1?s=10256-16561 ![]() Armory Link: http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/ch...ane&n=Karalock Group Make-up: I was in the main tank group (druid tank) and they had me run my Imp to give the tank the STA boost. Also had a tree druid with me but that doesn't help DPS. Information: This fight showed an interesting problem for me. Even though I had the Imp out, I had to stop DPS'ing a fair amount (it seemed to me) to avoid over aggro'ing. My rotation was Trinket when I could AND when I was going to DPS.. If I was right on the line with the tank I didn't pop the trinket and took an extra long second between SB's. So rotation was CoD and immolate as needed and then SB. very basic but I as I said I spent a lot of time either lifetapping (to get mana back up even if I wasn't very low) or just standing there to avoid any more spikes in aggro. I was thinking about putting up curse of shadow or elements but wasn't sure what that would do with my DPS/total damage for the fight. I wasn't trying to be the top but they bring me along for the damage so. Is there something I should be doing different to avoid having down time like that or am I just over gearing the tank I'm running with and I just need to slow down? |

Re: Kara - Prince - shadow (0/21/40)
you outgear Argrithal severely, so you need either a paladin in group for salvation, or a shaman with tranquility totem, but either way, your problem is that you are pretty much ready for tier 5ish raids and your tank is starting tier 4
also, subtlety on your cloak will help you as well |

Most of your DPS will come from SB spam so to reduce your threat I would leave out the immolate and throw up Curse of Shadow's.

Re: Kara - Prince - shadow (0/21/40)
I had a lot of problems managing threat with Curse of Doom because of the large spike of damage - especially if it crit, so I would throw out your Curse of Shadows instead. CoS will definitely make up for your lack in damage from CoDoom. Shadow bolt spam the rest of the time and reapply CoShadows as needed. You'll just have to be patient with your tank, and if you can get a pally in there for Salvation, that'll help immensely.

Re: Kara - Prince - shadow (0/21/40)
/ agree with gunthertaha,
Its always tough to control threat, usually on boss fight i wait till 95%-90% (85% if i get a Spriest) to really dps, the first few sec i just CORR, Immo, you know nothing to crazy then i COS, SB spam, them SoulShatter at around 50-45%, usually it does the trick. (2.4)Depending on your group, you could just as easy go COE, Immo, Inc spam ... as long as the mages scorch you should be fine, its a way to control you threat ,since you can stop your Inc at any time. The only good advice i can give you is take your time, build you're threat slowly, don't take you're big guns in the beginning, and don't worry about mages taking the meter ... |

not sure if it helps but for the first 10%of the damage on this fight our entire raid just wands him the only ones doing any damage what so ever is the 2 tanks after that we open up as usual and them at 70%we pop our trinkets and unleash on him

Re: Kara - Prince - shadow (0/21/40)
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I need to get that enchant on my cloak for sure.
This is the reguler group i've been "assigned" too so guess I just need to take a step back in damage because it's only going to get worse when I get the spellstrike hat and rune-cuffed bracers. Thanks again. |

Re: Kara - Prince - shadow (0/21/40)
Something to keep in mind for those that are riding the line on threat is that only your destruction spells (for a 0/21/40 spec) have the threat reduction on them. So don't use either a damaging curse or corruption thinking that you are helping your threat, because it isn't.
Shadowbolt and immolate will give you the most efficient damage per threat point if you are destro. Also, remember that timing a soul shatter for maximum efficiency is an art form and something that you will get better at as you run with a particular tank more and more. As other's have said above, though, you simple outgeared the tank by a large amount. |
