Respec to Affliction v low DPS kara
Hi all,
I had been aff before for quite some time.. went to felguard raid spec but as the guild got more people for the 25 man instances we needed to gear people up.... so i went back to UA malediction... heroic boosting was too hard on demo spec (for me anyway.. lot of aoe and movement needed). Well on demo spec for Kara I was sitting at just over 1k dps for the entire fight.... before on afflock i was always top 3 in any order and usually top 2 for damage... the latest kara "gear boost" was incredibly messy, we have new people and new raiders joined from a diff realm so some tactics where a lil different but nothing really too disimilar... we sucked big style tho and for the gear we should have rocked it.... I aint worried about the others tho.. just myself.. so i respeced to afflock to help boost hero's but well I was shocking in kara... my armory is The World of Warcraft Armory I was in the melee group and had agreed to it so no prob there.. I gained aggro once (that I am aware of) on a trash mob so i was maybe a lil slow to start to dps, the mage pulled 5 times i think... WWS report Wow Web Stats Am I getting the cast rotaion wrong? order is UA corr imm siphon then SB spam / drain life if healers are busy.... on boss fight im using CoElements... lot of trash too.. but depends on pull... any help greatly appreciated... :D I dont have the shadowweave set anymore btw... disenchanted when i got geared and changed spec :( |

Re: Respec to Affliction v low DPS kara
Well as far as your gear is concerned there's only 2 tiny little issues that are quite minor concerns - 2 crit gems
![]() That aside, your rotation is one of those that is commonly used, the rest of your gear is well gemmed and enchanted, your stats are fine so there'c clearly something missing. Are you using full personal buffs at all times? Timing your DoTs and not re-applying until just after they expire? Lifetapping while all DoTs are up to minimise DPS loses? I can see you're not using your trinket when its available, so thats something to improve on immediately. (I can't believe you DE'd the Shadoweave Set....) Have a read through this guide, see if any of the problems and solutions it poses rings any bells: Basic guide to Affliction DPS - The Warlocks Den Forums Your presence seems High, but your DPS time seems low, thats certainly something to look at also.... I don't think you're doing anything drastically wrong, your gear is fine, so a few changes in playstyle are probably all you're missing. Have you gone to Doctor Boom and run test rotations in an ideal setting to see what DPS you can do? |

Some of the low dps time and immolate ticks (but not all) can be put down to me being the range "marker" for prince... I was trying to keep other ranged at max distance and positioned safely so my reach on immo and s/bolt wasnt great and needed me to run in and out.. impossible on 1 attempt due to a horrible palcement of infernals. Back tonight for another try, hopefully we can gel a bit better for netherspite and have 1 tactic running on illhoof instead of the horrible mess we had going on there ![]() Thanks :D |

Re: Respec to Affliction v low DPS kara
I'm sure you'll be fine - Good Luck and remember to have fun
![]() re: trinkets - I always used mine on the initial application of DoTs, and when it was off CD I tended to wait until I could re-apply 2 or 3 DoTs to get the most of the boosted spell damage, which also meant timing Lifetaps carefully so you could keep casting for the whole duration of the buff so I stayed away from a Macro, but thats more of a personal preference than a hard and fast rule. |

Re: Respec to Affliction v low DPS kara
Hehe, we didnt get back until tonight, the previous night I spent 5 hours in heroic BM and still didnt complete..
![]() Gear boosts who'd do em ![]() Anyway, went back tonight and my overall dps was up 60, sitting in 3rd spot and damage done was in second. Ilhoof down first go, prince on well 10th attempt lol, comical errors, bad luck, sheer sillyness all played a part. Fun untill the early server shutdown called off netherspite on the 3rd attempt with the 2 tanks fighting over who's fault it was they were unable to get red beam due nether exhaustion ![]() On a good note, I finally got soulfrost enchant, my dps/damage were up and I reckon that I am about 250 spell damage down from I last played affliction (hit crit up etc). So I reckon I'm sorted... sooner I get back to demo the better tho.... Thanks ![]() |

Re: Respec to Affliction v low DPS kara
The rotation isn't too bad, might want to throw Curse of Agony in there for trash mobs, try making a macro so you cast amp and then Curse of Agony just utilize it as often as you can, actually with the imp Curse of Agony from the aff tree you might want to replace either immolate or UA just to save a bit of time and maybe get in an extra SB. Since CoE has been much improved since the patch you might just use that instead since it will help mages, locks, and shadow priests, kind of a call as you see it type think, but CoE is probably your best choice for bosses. I'd probably say respec a bit the imp CoW is pretty much useless i'd say just put it into fel con just cause if you pull agro you can try to keep your drain up to help stay alive or suppression just for that extra percent. Also just put 1 point into SE and the other in Nightfall so its max... any time you can pop a insta cast SB is a good thing. Whether or not you really need points imp howl is your call depending on how raids have been going. I'd say take the pts out of demo and put them into destro to get some crit, range, and shadowburn. Though the demo is good if you seem to pull aggro often but usually you want to do as much dps as able, and as a lock you should be towards the top of the ladder on dps.
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/...10200000000000 I'll say that you talent build is more of a well rounded build so you have some survivability... only real things i'd say is don't waste point on imp CoW and max your Nightfall, you really just need 1 pt in Shadow Embrace to make it useful... on the build i did i decided to put the extra 2 pts into imp HS but you could use it for Imp howl, some extra stam from DE or even in Imp imp if you tend to run with your imp while raiding. |
