Kara - Destro (0/21/40) Need help with DPS Time

Well I think the title is pretty self explanatory, my DPS is great, but I'm being out damaged by quite a margin due to my DPS time being so low.I know on fights like Aran my DPS time will be very low cause I'm moving around, but for example on Prince (good infernal drops, so just a stand and nuke fight) my DPS time was only 91% as apposed to 98-100% by the hunters and mage.

Trash is irrelevant IMO as most things are dead before my third or forth SB hits.

I'm currently PvP specced and geared, so don't look at my armory, but usually have 1100+ shadow damage, 20% tooltip crit, 200 hit, use Crusade Card on stand and nukes and Xiri's Gift on moving fights (working on Icon )
Oh and one last thing, even though I use Quartz cast bar, I've heard lag can also lower ones damage and on average my lag is 300-500ms (I live in South Africa )

Any advice regarding this would be highly appreciated.

well without being able to see your pve gear i am assuming from the wws that you are not hit capped. 2.2% sb mis, 5.2% soc miss , 3.7% drain life miss, and 37.5% rain of fire miss. assuming your not hit capped then just capping your damage would improve your overall damage by 58873 to bring you abit closer. also i would add immolate at the beginning of your rotation as it front loaded on damage but still ticks while you get a sb or 2 off. That way you aren't halfway through the 3rd cast of sb when mob dies and you are getting extra damage from the immolate ticking. If you are hit capped then wow you just had a bad night for misses. I am usually at 1.0 to 1.4 percent miss and im at 204 hit with 1174 shadow with fel armor only.i will check your gear through the day and see if you switch to your pve gear an ammend this post if appropriate.

well just saw your at 200 spell hit so the fact you had so many misses hurts. i would try the immolatein front. it will lower your dps abit but your overall damage will improve.

Thanks for the advice qwwerty I'll definitely try out the Immolate route and see how that goes, and yeah, just had a really bad night with misses it seems :/

What is your casting sequence.

Honestly with the gear you said you have you should be hovering around 1200 dps for boss fights. Not to mention trash should bring you upwards of 2000 dps due to seeds at the very beginning pulls before Moross (sp?).

You should be casting curse of elements/recklessness/tongues (depending on how many locks are in the raid and the fight), and then just spamming shadow bolts over and over and over again hitting what ever trinkets you have whenever the are up... unless its right before a boss fight and they have a long cooldown. Your succy is sac'd the entire raid correct? Don't be offended if it sounds like i'm asking a newbish questions but there is seriously something wrong with your dps if you can't get above 1k dps in Kara with your gear.

No offence taken, and to answer your questions:
During boss fights where I'm not running around dodging blizzards and being stunned for 12 seconds, my DPS is around 1.1-1.2k, but its more my DPS time I'm worried about.
My cast sequence is just that, CoE, SB, SB, SB, etc.. On some fights I use CoD (Curator, Netherspite and for Prince I try to aim my CoD to go of in phase 2 to burn him quicker)
I only really sacced my Succy before boss fights, didnt see the point of the extra DPS when things were dead so quick anyway.

We had another lock and mage for aoe's, so I didn't get all the glory DPS for those pulls :P
I'm going to look into adding Immolate to my rotation, but I'm actually also considering going full fire as I often run with mages more than locks/s-priests.

Curse of elements is universal now so you don't need to respec fire

How good was your tank?
My 'up' time on the last kara raid I did was fairly low. This was due to being allowed to die a couple of times on AoE groups :/ but mainly due to me only burning SB at about 75% max due to me outgearing the tank by quite a way and holding back to avoid pulling aggro.

If aggro is an issue then I normally start with CoE ~ Immolate ~ check omen ~ spam away. I normally try for at least 5k threat buffer (10k on bosses). But it's all dependant on how good your tank is and how quickly he can build threat.
If threat isn't an issue then I normally CoE ~ spam on trash, or just spam (depends how I feel tbh ) and on bosses I CoE ~ Immo ~ Spam ~ trinks when available as long as I have a clear 15k to 20k buffer before popping trinks ... 3 x 6 to 7K crits can build threat very fast and I prefer to play it safe and not wipe than run the tank close on omen

The above applies to Kara/Gruuls/Maggy/VR as these are pretty much all I've raided so far.

I'm personally a big fan of the CoE, Corruption, immolate, SB, SB, SB, Conflagrate, Immolate, SB, SB, SB, Conflagrate repeat method. Lifetap when you need to and have pots on hand so you're not making the healers come off of their targets for you and to keep your dps up avoiding drain life. This is a proven raid hit sequence that almost always puts me at the top of the charts even with better geared competition alot of times.
