Spell F.A.Q - Ritual of Summoning

What is Ritual of Summoning?

This is the ability given to Warlocks to summon a party member from anywhere in game to their side. There is no limit on how far you can summon someone, however you can not summon a party member into an instance, you must first vacate the instance and then summon them.

How do I perform a Ritual?

In order to summon someone, you need to enlist in the assistance of two other players, and both the two assistance and the person you are summoning need to be in your group. In order to perform the ritual you ;

  1. Ensure you have Soulshards, the Ritual requires one (1) shard for every person you wish to summon.

  2. Find your two assistants, and if in a major city, asking in general for help will usually yield you a couple.

  3. Get yourself and your helpers all together in the same spot.

  4. Ensure both your helpers and your target are all in your group.

  5. Select the person you wish to summon by clicking on their profile or using the F1 - F5 keys.

  6. Left click (or hit the corresponding number if hot keyed) your Ritual of Summoning Spell.

  7. If your helpers haven't already, ask them to right click the spell effect that will appear in front of you. It is imperative that your two helpers DO NOT move once they have clicked on the portal, if they do, your ritual will fail. (You must also stand completely still)

  8. Wait for your target to appear.

What level do I have to be to use it?

As it's a level 20 spell you must be level 20 or higher to use it.

Can I summon a player of any level?

Yes, there is no level limitation on the person you are summoning.

Do the people helping have to be a minimum level?

No, your assistants can be level 1 if you need.

Can I use this to summon my pet if he gets stuck?

No, this spell can only be used against a real player.

Can I summon an NPC or Mob?

This would make pulling very easy, but sadly not, the person being summoned must be another player.

Note: Because parts of the Netherstorm zone are impossible to access without a flying mount, Blizzard has made it impossible for Warlocks to summon inside the zone. The lore reason for this is that Netherstorm's chaotic energies make summoning magically impossible.
